Fat Cat Fun With Phonics

Fat Cat likes to nap on his mat all day long. But he has little chance to enjoy his nap when Pat finds a rat in her hat, chases it with a bat, and lands flat on Cat’s mat! This silly, rhyming story allows children to recognize, read, and spell three-letter words in the short a word family.

FUN WITH PHONICS is a wonderfully interactive series of early reader books, designed to develop literacy and sound-recognition skills through repetition within a meaningful context. Children will learn through the integrated experience of turning the wheel to spell words as they read!

5 Stars Good thing to read to small children with cats.
Bought this for my 5yr old grandson. We’ve read many things out of the book to him and it really has some good suggestions about how to care for a cat. It explains how to handle cats so young people can understand. Most of the things the book suggests you do to play with the cat are not new ideas, but there’s a few things in there I hadn’t thought of. A decent book to get and read to first time young owners of cats/kittens.

3 Stars Some fun ideas if you’re a kid (not a kid at heart, but really a kid)
If I had children and cats, this book would be a TEN. However, I don’t so I’d rate it 3 stars. The book is pretty clear that the intended audience is kids. The back cover says, “Children/Pets” and, “Games and activities for kids and cats”. The pictures are large, the typeface even larger and the tone is simple, but fun.

I’d agree with some of the reviewers who say the information is pretty basic, but since the book is for children, the information will seem shiny brand new to them. This book might also be appropriate for someone who just got their first kitten or cat. However, if you’ve had cats for years or are an ardent cat lover, I’d say give this a pass and look for something more age appropriate for you ;).

5 Stars Fun Book
This is a wonderful book for any cat owner. It’s ideal for children to learn positive ways of playing with their cat. Large print and easy reading adds to the fun of this book! It gives many ideas of fun things to do with your cat and some tips for better communication. It mentions that trust is very important so we shouldn’t do anything to scare the cat, even though it may be fun. Additionally, there are tid-bits of interesting information about cats. It contains instructions for making some cat items instead of spending a lot of money on purchasing them from the store, for example a cat porch by a window and scratching post.

3 Stars Nothing new here
Nothing new here. I already knew most of the stuff in this book. Nice for someone who never owned a cat before.

5 Stars Totally Fun
My son loves this book and has spent countless time with our cat and this book. The cat, on the other hand, probably hates it. ;)

4 Stars a little book
A little book with a variety of cute cat stencils - it has been useful.

2 Stars too flimsy to work
I thought all the many stencil pichures would make a great addition to my daughters craft stuff, but they are just too flimsy. The light weight pieces come up and paint goes under them. Plus they tear incredibly easy. I wish somebody would make the same pictures with better material so they could really be used.
